French media: Paris Champions League final jersey auction hits sky-high prices, Marginhos jersey reaches 31,972 euros

Le Parisien reported that Paris Saint-Germain cooperated with MatchWornShirt to auction 15 Champions League final jerseys. As of Saturday, bids for some jerseys have reached sky-high prices.

These jerseys give fans the opportunity to be a part of history. Since ten days ago, 15 jerseys worn by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final have been auctioned on the professional website MatchWornShirt. The jerseys of final heroes such as Marquinios and Kvaratshelia are among them.

To get these jerseys, the prices range from 2,200 euros to nearly 32,000 euros. Although the starting price is relatively low, the bidding price has soared in the past few days, sometimes reaching astronomical figures.

Marquinios's jersey bid was 24,203 euros on Friday. Adding VAT, buyer fees and freight costs, the total price reached 31,972.19 euros. This has also caused the prices of other jerseys to rise. The jersey, signed and worn by the most-appeared player in the history of the Paris Saint-Germain captain and the club is being fiercely contested by a Frenchman and an American. The two bidders who are currently anonymous have been ongoing for several days. Less than 24 hours before the auction ends, French bidders appear to win the precious jersey.

Another jersey with soaring prices was from Kvaratskhlia, and the Georgian player also signed the jersey. The final bidder will pay a total of 24,041.63 euros to get his jersey with his fourth goal against Inter Milan, which completely locked in the victory of the game.

While these jerseys themselves are enough to attract buyers, their displays also helped push up prices. SPK's project manager Roman Gilhoto worked with Paris Saint-Germain and the platform to attract potential buyers to participate in what he calls the "largest auction in website history" because the auction has a very high "reputation".

His job is to assist both parties in promoting these jerseys. He specifically mentioned that before the Ligue 1 match against Lens on September 14, a Kvaratshelia jersey was displayed outside the Princes Park stadium, with a QR code that people can bid directly on the website by scanning.

This display method is very effective, and according to Roman Gilhoto, "the auction website is still in use." This suggests that there may be more similar activities in the future. Perhaps there is also a chance to see jerseys from other players like Ottoman Dembele or Desiré Duais who want to keep their jerseys and therefore are not in the auction.

The auction was a huge success, and no jersey was sold for less than 2,000 euros, and the cheapest one was the jersey prepared for Mbayer (2,270.87 euros). As for the purpose of the money (about 117,000 euros), the club said it would be used for "continue to develop and grow the club" and "various projects", but the specific details were not stated on the auction website.
