Laporta: Barcelona s sponsorship fees and merchandise sales revenue hit new records and has turned a profit

Barcelona President Laporta was invited to attend the Costa Brava Forum organized by the Lorette de Mar Economic Club yesterday afternoon and delivered a speech entitled "Barcelona, a Catalan institution facing the world."

In his speech, Laporta revealed the key reasons why Barcelona has gone from facing a loss of 500 million euros in 2021 to achieving a profit of 2 million euros this fiscal year, including new records for sponsorship fees (259 million euros) and merchandise sales revenue (170 million euros), as well as reducing player salary expenses to 54% of total revenue to comply with UEFA's financial regulations.

Laporta said: "Good financial reporting results are not achieved by chance, but are achieved through day-to-day hard work, the ability to make courageous decisions and accumulated experience."

"There is no other secret: first and foremost a financial plan aimed at restoring and subsequently growing the club's income. In this process, we will not endanger Barcelona's membership ownership model, nor will it reduce the size of Barcelona, but on the contrary, make the club bigger and stronger."

The Costa Brava forum attracted more than a hundred local entrepreneurs, who heard directly from Laporta's explanation of the future development of Barcelona. Laporta mentioned:

"Barcelona's regular revenue is expected to reach 1.075 billion euros. This is due to the fact that audiences will gradually return to the Camp Nou this season, thus significantly increasing the club's box office revenue. In short, maintaining profits means that the club's current development model is safe and will not be threatened."

Finally, Laporta mentioned the social responsibility of Barcelona as a Catalan club facing the world, and specifically mentioned the "Future Youth+" project of the Barcelona Foundation. This year is the fourth year of the project, which aims to provide employment training for young people in Catalonia and help them acquire job skills.
