Marca: Biba considers appealing to CAS to prove that FIFA error has caused Laporte to fail in transfer
According to Marca, FIFA's TMS system has always been fair in handling all international transfer matters. However, recently the management of a club requested FIFA to reconsider its decision in an attempt to prove that the errors that occurred in the relevant formalities were not caused by the club and that they had done the right way as required. FIFA plans to review the case next Tuesday or Wednesday, provided that the Basque-based club has submitted all the necessary information in order to obtain a nearly impossible transfer permit. Some past cases have not brought optimistic expectations, especially given the behavior of senior executives of Leader Victory Club. Julian Araujo failed to successfully join Barcelona when the 2023 winter transfer window closed. The Los Angeles Galaxy and the Catalan club delayed submission of documents, resulting in TMS rejecting the transfer request. Barcelona then filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), claiming that there was a system error, but the complaint was rejected by the Swiss court. The situation in Laporte is very similar, and Athletic Bilbao is also considering whether to appeal to CAS. For Laporte, it wouldn't work to join a new team using free agent. Once the transfer window is closed, the transfer cannot be completed even if the two parties terminate the contract through negotiation, unless the transfer window remains open until he gains freedom.
