Neto: I helped me a lot when I came to Jota, England, and I wanted to win the Club World Cup for him

For the upcoming Club World Cup final, Pedro Neto recalled his friend Diogo Jota.

Netto: When I stepped onto the court on Sunday, I wanted to win this game for Jota. He will always be with me, and he will always be remembered. My thoughts are still with him, his brother Andre Silva, and their family.

It's a very difficult time. When I came to England, Jota immediately impressed me. I was still very young at that time and came to a new country, and he was one of the key players of the Wolves. But he helped me and my family a lot and I learned a lot from him in life and football.

Jota is a member of our Portuguese player group, and we have a lot of people! Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Ruben Vinagray, Rui Patricio, myself and Jota. We are very close off the court and spend time together often.

We are still in touch now, and the memories that these guys and the ones I have will be with me for the rest of my life. This is why it is not as difficult as Ruta now. He is a warrior, someone who is always ready to fight for you. Yet he had a bright smile and laughter…it was one of the things I would always remember. When I heard this, I talked to the coach and everyone was very supportive of me. We have a game against Palmeiras, and it doesn't make sense that I don't play.
