Lyon boss: The process of adapting to the French system as an American investor is full of challenges and needs to be revised
Lyon boss John Tuctor recently accepted an interview with Brazilian media and said that he was about to fade out of Lyon's daily management. American businessman Tuctor's Hawks Football Group owns teams such as Lyon and Botafogo. He had just sold Crystal Palace shares. He said: "I will focus more on the overall strategy of Hawks Football Group, especially focusing on Botafogo's affairs." "Hawks Football Group has outstanding partners and shareholders, and they will take over the affairs that I failed to handle properly in France. I look forward to returning to Brazil. Our problems in France will be resolved and a strong management team will be formed." This promise is in sharp contrast to the anger of Lyon fans. After DNCG announced on Tuesday that it would demote Lyon to Ligue 2, some fans have organized protests, and most people have asked Tuctor to leave office. The American boss who has taken over Lyon in 2022 now clearly realizes that he has almost assumed the image responsibility of the club's financial crisis alone: "My performance at the French political level is not as good as the stadium level. As an American investor, the process of adapting to the French system has always been challenging. But we have sufficient funds and have just completed the sale of Crystal Palace and have never faced cash flow problems. It's just that in the process, some of my practices disappointed the local management agencies, which needs to be revised." Teter showed confidence in the prospects of Lyon, especially the negotiated agreement reached with UEFA. Despite being punished with a heavy penalty of 50 million euros, the club is still allowed to participate in the UEFA Cup next season (if you successfully retain your Ligue 1 qualification). Tector finally concluded: "This is the reality of a multi-club system. You can't let all of your clubs win every game at the same time."
