Nowitzki: It wasn t fun to grow up too tall when I was a kid. I used to like playing tennis & and became obsessed with basketball.
Recently, Nowitzki recalled his childhood growth in an Amazon documentary. Nowitzki said: "As a kid from Würzburg, my life suddenly changed; in the draft, I was not sure if my skills and body were ready for the NBA. As a German, I was more pessimistic about this, and I never thought I could do it." "I grew up in a middle-class family, I was tall and thin, I loved playing tennis when I was a kid, but when I was half the taller people said to me, 'Is the air fresher?' To be honest, it wasn't fun to be so tall when I was a kid, and my brother was playing in a basketball club and he said to me, 'Why don't you come and try it? You're so tall.' When I first went to basketball training, I became obsessed with the sport."
