Every body: Espanyol club promotes pet adoption activities, dogs will step onto the lawn with players
According to the "Daily Sports" report, the Espanyol Club continues to become a model of social charity activities. As part of the "Parrots Don't Abandon" campaign, 11 dogs from Barcelona's animal shelter will join Espanyol's first-team players on the pitch on Saturday, November 8, before the match against Villarreal. The event aims to "promote adoption, responsible pet ownership and collaboration with animal protection groups around us" and is supported by local football clubs. This groundbreaking campaign calls attention to an obvious problem - animal abandonment. Carreras, wearing a training shirt with dog paw prints on it, introduced the event Thursday. The Catalan winger encouraged all Parrot fans to actively participate in the event, saying: "Being a Parrot fan is not just about cheering for the team, it is about being loyal to our community and looking after each other." The club explained: "This jersey with paw prints is not an accident. It reminds us that although everyone We all know that animals are abandoned, but not enough is being done to change this. Abandonment is still a serious problem and we need to raise social awareness to end this situation." In addition to the 11 dogs that will appear at the Spanish home, there are many other animals waiting for new homes, and people can learn about them through the official website. Until November 22, the club will also set up a collection point outside the home stadium to accept donated items such as blankets, towels, pet food, snacks and cans. These materials will be sent to the Barcelona Animal Shelter Center and other animal shelters in Catalonia to expand the scope of the event. The Barcelona Animal Shelter Center is mainly responsible for receiving companion animals (including dogs, cats and ferrets) that are strays, abandoned, uncared for or referred by security departments and social service agencies until they can find their families again or be adopted. According to EFE, the Barcelona city government revealed that more than 2,000 lost or abandoned companion animals are found on the city streets every year. Currently, the Barcelona Animal Shelter Center is looking after about 400 animals waiting for new homes.
