Former NBA player Rodney Rogers dies! Played for the Suns&76&Celtics and other teams!

The Wake Forest University Athletic Department mourns the death of team legend, member of the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame, and 2022 Wake Forest Distinguished Alumni Award winner Rodney Rogers (Class of 1994), who passed away on November 21, 2025, local time.

Rodney Rogers was born on June 20, 1971 in Durham, North Carolina, USA. Rogers was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the ninth overall pick in the first round of the 1993 NBA draft. Over his 12 seasons in the NBA, Rogers averaged 10.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game. In his NBA career, he has played for the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, New Jersey Nets, New Orleans Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers, and won the NBA's Best Sixth Man Award once (1999-00 season).

During his college days, he was also the pride of Wake Forest University. Rogers won the ACC Freshman of the Year honor in his freshman season and led the team to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1984. He was subsequently selected to the ACC All-ACC First Team in 1992, and after leading Wake Forest to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 1993, he was named ACC Player of the Year and All-American First Team.
