Reeves talks about early renewal quote: The price is not right, but it doesn t mean I m looking for astronomical figures
Recently, Lakers player Austin Reeves talked about his thoughts on renewal in an interview. In 2023, Reeves reached a four-year, $53.8 million contract with the highest price the Lakers could offer at the time, with the last year being the player option. And because of this low number, the maximum salary increase that the Lakers can offer in early contract renewal this summer is only 40%. That's why he told Robert Pelinka and Jenny Bass: "Thank you, but no more." "I expressed my thoughts. Probably, 'You gave me a chance. Robert, you gave me a chance. Jenny, you are very good to my family. You have taken care of everything we want and need since we came here. And we are very grateful to you for that," Reeves said. "But we don't think that number is the right number. But that's not to say we're going to look for a sky-high number."
