According to Timberwolves reporter Chris Hine, the team waived Tristen Newton. The reporter said that Newton was laid off to free up a two-way contract spot for Zhuzan. Last season, Newton played 3 games on behalf of the Timberwolves, averaging 1.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 2.7 minutes per game. He played 20 games in the G League, averaging 16.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.9 steals in 35.9 minutes per game.
